Ten. X. 10 months!

Sienna has grown so much this month! Its amazing the difference one month can make in a babies life.

Weight: 14.8 (slow and steady!)
Sleep: She has slept thru the night a few times, but more often goes down at 730, we wake her up before we go to bed and give her bottle, just so she will sleep until 8 so we don't have to get up during the night! (Is that bad??) All I know is we love sleeping all night long.
Loves: Stuffed animals. In particular, a small teddy bear, a pink pig, and the pink bunny she gets pictures with. After a nap when I pull her out of the crib she reaches back in so she can pick up at least one of these stuffies. I think it's adorable. She is also very addicted to anything that looks like an apple product. She gets mad if it turns off or mad if we take it away. And every day I tell myself I am not going to use any of these things in front of her but everyday I fail.
She also loves to "dance" to music which consists of just flapping her arms. And she is obsessed with reaching out one hand to people, it's like her special way of saying hello or something.
Nicknames: Monster, Monkey, Coffee (coughy) bean, biggie, cutie bum, Bum Bum, Benna, Sienna baby, baby, love, grumpy pants, SiSi.
Words: Says mama and dada and I think she has figured out there is a meaning to them. She cries at my feet and just says mamamamama and when I feed her. When Matt walks into the room she will start saying dada. And the other day out of the blue, she knocked over some toilet paper and so I said uh-oh and the clear as day she said uh-oh. Matt, who was in the other room had to ask who said that. I tried getting her to say it again and she said it once more but it was a lot more strained and grunty then the first.
Miscellaneous: Sienna has gotten a few night terrors this last month. Hopefully she grows out of them soon. Its kind of scary because she usually keeps her eyes shut, cries uncontrollably, twitches out a little, and there is nothing I can do. She has finally stopped army crawling and crawls on her hands and knees. Plays strange to almost any man, but will go to any woman. Thinks she is just about the best thing since sliced bread, which she is.

Sienna has two teeth now! Oh how cute little baby teeth are. Sienna handled teething pretty well, a little fussier and a lot more cuddly, which made teething so manageable.

Sienna loves eating and we have had fun trying new foods with her. Her favorite foods so far are potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, avocados, oranges, and pancakes. She lets me feed her for the first little while then she becomes a grumpy pants and will only eat if she is in charge, which leads to a big mess.

Loves to mimic people. It is adorable. She learned how to do the finger thing with her mouth after me showing her once. She loves it when I stick out my tongue and move it back and forth you can just see her mind trying to figure out how to do it as she opens her mouth and just sticks out her tongue.

Loves the swings. I wish it was nice out more often so we could go out more. But hey, we will take the few nice days we have had.

NINE MONTHS

Her last month in single digits. (sigh) Everyday I am amazed at how much Sienna is learning and growing. I want her to slow down but at the same time I want her to do everything! As seen in previous posts Sienna had a busy month in California. And considering the picture overload in those posts, I don't have a lot to put up. I know, so disappointing.

* Still likes to army crawl. She will get up on all fours and launch herself. That's about as close to real crawling as she has gotten.
* Starting to climb up on things. Actually scratch things. It's only people.
* Eating more solid foods. Like chunks of Avocado, puffs, yogurt melts,panckaes and oranges.
* No teeth still! Viva La gums.
* Recognizes the theme song and credit song of Gilmore girls. Every time it plays she stops what she is doing and watches until it's over.
* Had her first "Mama is upset at what you did, but I can't really get mad at you because you have no idea what you are doing and I should have been more careful" moment. I was painting our living room, which I love the new color, and I had placed the lid to the paint back on, but not tightly. And Sienna was just doing her thing, crawling around the room playing with whatever caught her eye... When all the sudden I turn and look at her and there is a big puddle of paint. After I got over the shock of what just happened I counted my blessings. The can was only 1/3 full, Sienna didn't get it all over her face, and she never crawled through it and trailed it all over the floor. But it was still a pain to clean.
* Weight 13 lbs 14 oz. She stands a chance of tripling her birth weight by 1 year.
* Current favorite toys are the straw from my water bottle, my glasses, hairbrush, and anything electronic.

Aunt Brenda loves to spoil Sienna with clothes. She gave Sienna this cute Christmas dress.

 Crawling all over me. She will intentionally crawl over me to reach an object, when going around me would be much easier.

Sienna has some favorite books. She loves this touch and feel one and also one called Quiet, Loud. I love reading to her and watching her face light up and scanning the page like it's the most interesting thing.

Christmas in California part 2

Man, where to start? Christmas was great. I thought I would miss a white Christmas but really, I loved being warm for Christmas! Matts mom got us a beautiful real Christmas tree. I honestly had never seen one that looked so nice. Any real Christmas trees I saw were like giant versions of Charlie Browns Christmas trees, so I didn't know why any one would ever want a real one, but after seeing her's I can see why. Although I still love an artificial one. I never have to go looking for one or figure out how to get rid of it and it's just a one time payment!

So Matts sister, Sara, and her family came to Fresno this year. It was so fun to see them again and I just know Sienna loved seeing her newest cousin Emma. We went to another area of town where everyone has lights and blow up Christmas things set up. They call it candy cane lane, which I think is pretty adorable. And dare I say, candy cane lane was better then Christmas tree lane. I loved being able to walk down the streets, it seemed like more houses decorated, and the houses were closer to the street so you could see all the lights better.

Next we went to Sara's husbands house in Bakersfield for Christmas Eve and morning

I LOVE that we are doing Christmas Jammies. I was always so jealous of friends who got to open up one gift Christmas Eve, it being christmas pajamas. So I was very on board with the idea of doing it for the grandkids.

Something I love about California is fresh fruit grown in your backyards. I told Matt the only way I will move to California is if we have an orange, lemon, and grapefruit tree.

Matt took me for my first in & out burger. Well actually it was my first fast food burger ever! It lived up to it's hype. We went back for round two a few days later.

 Sienna slept in till 11:30 on New Years Eve so she was quite the party animal and stayed up till 11:00

Last but not least, we went to the zoo. I love the Fresno Zoo. I can't wait for Sienna to be a little older and actually enjoy seeing all the animals.

And if you made it this far, let me just tell you how maddening our trip home was. Sienna did great on the flight from Fresno, to Denver. I am talking she didn't make a peep! It was wonderful. Next flight, not the case. I think it was because it was so BLASTED hot in the plane and that we sat in the plane for 2 HOURS before we even took off. Here is how it went.

Tarmac>door ajar light on>back to gate>mechanical comes to fix it, 10mins> need to refuel, another 15 mins> tarmac> heavy snowfall warning> back to gate> Moderate snowfall warning>we can leave> need to be de-iced> last in line> wait 30-45 mins> back to tarmac> take off! 

We didn't leave the Denver airport, until AFTER we were suppose to have arrived in Great falls. It was the worst, but I am just grateful we made it home safely.

California Christmas Part 1

I hate to admit it, but I love California during the winter time. I told Matt last Christmas when we were in California that we had to spend the next one in Canada. All it took was one big snow storm the beginning of November and my mind was changed and we bought tickets to California. I can't say I have really regretted the decision. Now for a bunch of pictures.

Sienna did really well on the flight, only fussing a little cause I think she was tired of being held. (This girl has places to go and people to see. She can't be held all day long!) I love these pictures of her in the airplane seat cause it makes her seem so grown up.

The first few days we spent in Fresno which was fun cause we got to show Sienna off to people Matt cares about. We also went to Christmas Tree Lane. It's a street where houses are required to decorate for christmas and during the Christmas Season, in the evening, it is closed off for people who want to see the lights! I wish I would've taken more pictures, but since we were in a car it was a little hard. 

Next we took the train down to Rancho Santa Margarita to visit my brother Brandon and his wife. We had so much fun! The weather was a little cooler then usual but that didn't stop us from having a great time. They have memberships to a fantastic gym. Crystal and I went to a "Bar class." We did some plies and pointe work, and various other exercises using the bar, a band, and a ball. One night we dropped our kids off at the gym day care and went crazy. We went down the waterslides, hot tubbed, went in the sauna, and rock climbed. It was such a fun night. I kind of felt like I was in high school again. Sadly no pictures.

 Jadyn was such a good cousin to Sienna. She liked to hold her, push her in the stroller, and give her lots of kisses and hugs.

 Kennedy also loved Sienna, maybe a little too much. That hug you see was generally how she hugged her, and if you tried to pull her off, she just squeezed tighter. Glad Sienna is still alive. 

 Quinncy and Sienna are 3 months apart, although aside from Sienna being more mobile, you wouldn't know it since they are about the same size. Love them together. 

We also went to Balboa Island and rented bikes and rode them along the beach. It was sooo beautiful. I loved having the beach and ocean on one side and then beautiful beach front homes on the other side. The weather was also the perfect temperature, at least on the first leg of our trip. On the way back the wind was against us and Sienna was not happy! She cried the whole way back and had a combination of tears, drool and snot all over her face.
