Oscar.The.Rat.

I have a pet rat.
I love him.
Everything he does I find hilarious.
I can already tell I'll be one of those moms who their child touches their nose and I think it's adorable and think that everyone should know about it.
I have been training oscar for the last couple of weeks.
Let me give you some stats like he was my own child.
Oscar weighed 188 when we got him.
He weighed 248 when we started training but has lost a little weight and is now 237.
Oscar can eat food from my hand. His favorites are animal crackers and peas.
Oscar is a little clingy and doesn't like going to Matt or Madison. He'll go to them for a couple of seconds before he's running back into my arms.
We are working on training him to go to the bathroom in his cage. (We've had a few accidents)
Oscar can successfully press a lever to get food and will search for it under cups.
He hates baths and in retaliation he poops all over. I figure it's because I've literally scared the poop out of him.
Oscar is very curious and loves to sniff everything.
He likes to sit on my shoulders and burrow under my hair.
I think it's so cute when Oscar takes his little paws and cleans off his face, sniffs my face, or curls up in my arms.
I love Oscar and want to bring him home with me to Canada.
Matt isn't on board but I blame that on the fact that Oscar doesn't like Matt that much, therefore Matt doesn't like him. Plus he probably wants all my attention and knows Oscar would get to much of it.
I just can't bear the thought of him being eaten by a rat or being donated to science....
Crying.
Here are some pictures.

Interview special

A couple of weeks ago Matt and I got interviewed by my old FHE brother.
He had to create a youtube channel for one of his classes and it's about engaged couples.
He asked Matt and I a series of questions, without one another in the room, and then made a little interview out of it.
I wish it was longer and had more of our answers.
Matt and I talked about the questions and answers after we got interviewed and found that we had answered a lot of questions the exact same.
I loved that because it tells us just how much we have talked about things, how well we listen, and how much we know about the other.
It was a lot of fun to do and I love having this little piece of our love story.
Here it is, enjoy.
Engaged interview

And here are just 2 pictures of Matt and I.
Get used to this just being about Matt and I and nothing really else of importance.

Valentine's day

This is probably one of the first Valentine's day I really enjoyed.
Last year was great for the fact that I went to a Lady Antebellum concert.
But the cold hard truth is there is nothing better then spending the day with the person you love and doing sweet things for them.
I think I'll do it more often. Who says we need a special day set aside to show love?
For Valentine's day, Matt and I had talked about having pancakes in the morning but then he texted me that morning and said he just realized he had homework due in the next few hours so he wouldn't be able to.
About 15 mins later I got a text that said there was a surprise downstairs for me.
He had made heart shaped pancakes and had gotten everything I like on my pancakes all prepared for me. There was also an orchid on the table.
It was so sweet to come down stairs to that.
Later that day I decorated a table with a heart table cloth, heart shaped plates, champagne classes with hearts on them and then did the usual scattering of candy hearts and the unusual scattering of crispy chocolate soccer balls since Matt plays soccer.
Matt made me lasagna as that was our first date meal together and it was delicious. We just ended the night I think watching a movie or talking. Whatever it was it was great.
I so look forward to many more valentine's days with Matt.

Dates

Matt and I have become like identical twins.
There was one day were we had 3 of the same ideas.
For some reason I can't remember 2 of them but I do remember that I bought socks and some of them were white and I thought. I think Matt and I should decorate these socks tonight cause I hate having tons of different brands of white socks and having to try and match them.
Well I told Matt my idea and he was like that's weird. Can I tell you what I wanted to do for out date tonight? I wanted to decorate socks.
Yup. We are a match made in heaven.

Then we had serendipity frozen hot chocolate.

The next day I got up early to prepare home made chicken noodle soup.
I'm pretty sure I get some sweet pre-wifey points for this dinner.
I cut the carrots into heart shapes and I made the noodles from scratch. (I'm going to act like making noodles from scratch is really hard, but it's not)
Here is the finished product. Some of the carrots didn't quite resemble hearts but it's harder then one might think. It was delicious though.
I love Matt and the fun little dates we do. We just enjoy spending time together and every day with him is like a date. I hope this kind of relationship carries over into our marriage. Which is in 78 days!

Engaged to be wed.

I'm engaged.
:)
A friend wrote me an email the other day mentioning how she noticed that I hadn't blogged in awhile and that the same thing happened to her when she was getting pretty serious with her boyfriend so she assumed that was the case with me.
Well she was right. Blogging became the last thing I wanted to do because when I wasn't with Matt I was trying to catch up on the homework I hadn't done yet. Lots of great things were happening that I could blog about, I just didn't feel like I had the time.
Anyway, I am engaged.
And it's wonderful.
This is something I've wanted for so so long. There have been many blog posts published or unpublished about that want. I can't believe it's actually become a reality.
I'll just skip to the chase and tell the engagement story.
We went to Utah this last weekend and I was meeting his mom for the first time.
I was pretty sure it was going to happen this weekend and I could not wait. I was so excited to have a ring on my finger to signify that I was taken and adored by someone.
So the night he asked me to marry him we went to Red Robin for dinner, which is a favorite of ours.
During dinner he told me that he was sorry, but that our date that night consisted of doing things outside (it was around -15 Celsius so you can just imagine how thrilled I was)
But he said they were on our list of date ideas so I was excited to find out.
He took me to temple square and the moment we were out of the car I was looking forward to the chance to be inside the visiting center, although I knew that wasn't on our list of date ideas, I was hoping for some sort of pit stop.
Instead he kept me outside the gates of the temple and took me around a corner where there were horse carriages lined up.
Immediately I knew that was what his plan was.
But I didn't want to make it to easy for him by being excited and asking him if we were going on a carriage ride. So we started to walk by, when one of the drivers asked if we wanted to take a ride. Matt tried to play it off cool like that wasn't what we wanted to do and asked the price and for how long. Neither or us felt like a 30 minute carriage ride and got her to settle for a 20 minute one.
Matt had planned to propose while we were in the carriage but our driver could not stop talking. And it was all about her horse. Matt was not impressed.
So we decided to go to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, which was not on our list of date ideas, but a good place to go none the less.
We went to the top floor where it over looks the temple.
There we talked for awhile about the temple and marriage and I jokingly said "Have I made you want to think twice about marrying me?" And he said something along these lines "well I thought it over once and decided yes and then I thought it over twice and the answer was still yes, so upon this third time, my answer is still yes. So I guess now is as good as time as any," as he starts fiddling in his pocket and gets down on one knee. I just stare and say You've got to be kidding me. And he asks if I'll marry him, and before I can say yes he's slipped the ring onto my finger (I guess I didn't have a choice) and we were hugging and kissing and I finally managed to say Of course I will.
Matt's heart was beating so hard and fast and his knees were shaking. It was like we had never talked about it before and he had no idea if I would say yes or not.
Lots of people ask me if I knew he was going to propose that night.
While I did not know for 100%, I had a pretty good feeling about it. Especially because he was acting a little weird the whole night. It actually made me start acting a little weird cause I was just waiting for him to do it.
Anyway. We are getting married April 20th in the Cardston Alberta Temple. I couldn't be happier.
